Reupholstery can be an earth-friendly process. We only use foam when there is no other option. In general, we use:

Below, you will see some of the materials and techniques that were used 200 years ago. It used to be that the cost of stuffing materials cost more than the handmade frame and cover fabric put together, so finding inexpensive stuffings was quite important.
- Horse hair -- from tails and manes of Argentine horses
- Hog/horse hair
- Natural fibers for support materials (hemp burlap, linen burlap, linen spring twine, linen scrim, cotton calico, and cotton wadding)
- Coil springs
- For special 18th c. chairs that where the customer wants total authenticity, we offer marsh grass, harvested locally, for rolled edges
